Marktplatz with parish church and Pyramid The market square was redesigned in the early 19th century by the architect Friedrich Weinbrenner, who was in charge of the whole building administration in the state of Baden. In spite of destructions during World War II, the square still shows its classicist style. |

| | Stadtkirche The Lutheran parish church was built by Friedrich Weinbrenner in 1807-1816. The classicist porticus that domeinates the square is flanked by two identical houses. The left one was Weinbrenner's home. Now it contains the tourist information office. |
| | Kaiserstraße Kaiserstraße, the street that leads through the city center from West to East, is Karlsruhe's main shopping mall. |
| | Pyramid The pyramid marks the place where the first Lutheran church of Karlsruhe used to stand. In the early 19th century the pyramid was erected as a grave monument: The heart of the city's founder, Markgraf Carl Wilhelm, is buried underneath. |
