At the Karori Wildlife Sanctuary, 8 March 2008

A saddleback talking to me ;-)
Some photos here until I started building my Wellington page. This has happened in the meantime. You find lots of tips and photos of the city, the sea and, of course, of the Karori Wildlife Sanctuary.
Saddleback checking the canopy

What an incredibly long beak they have!
Stitchbird

Most times they sit like this, head down, tail up

They all have rings on their legs, so must have been caught at some point.

They have feeding stations in the sanctuary, so if you sit there long enough some birds might show up and feed on the honeywater.
Kaka

They have a special feeding station there - but also outside the feeding times (when we were at this spot) those cheeky parrots show up.
Fantail

I just love them!
Robin

Those North Island robins are much bigger than the ones on the South Island - but display the same behaviour.

Most times they came too close to my big lens LOL

As they check the leaf litter for insects I pulled my shoe along the ground and the robins followed my traces forever.

Sometimes you must really pay attention that you do not step on them.
Aren't they cute on their long legs?

Interestingly they look quite differently, some with a whitish belly, others without, some with a big white dot above the beak, others without...
Robin with white belly and white dot...

Howdy Sissi, Thank you kindly for visiting my Atlanta page, unfortunately the hubby didn't have enough time to see Margaret Mitchell quarters, but the Underground Atlanta has seen many Civil Rights movements.
