View from the road

There were quite a lot of Council workers around, I hope they did not find me suspicious and did not note my number plate LOL

Anke Thea asked me if I could have a look at the house where she and her family lived from 1972 to '75, as it sits on the road from Lyttelton (where I live) to Christchurch, NZ. No problem, I pass there every time I go to the city, by bus or by car. Now Anke Thea lives in the Netherlands.

The house looks the age it should be. The addition in the background, to the right, is part of the house. Either originally built like this or added later. You should know best... ;-)

You will not remember the street like this. Two or three years ago Opawa Road was altered. The original road became a parking lane for residents, and a new road added. For this road houses on the other side of the road were demolished or relocated.

This parking lane is interrupted by grassy traffic islands, so car hoons cannot use it as race course. Those hoons are one of Christchurch's major problems at the moment.

Here you see the old road as a parking lane (including a Council truck...), and the new road to the left. View towards the Port Hills (and - indirectly - Lyttelton. House # 308 would be to the right of the truck.
