Start: Mühlburger Tor | Christuskirche and the pigeon house |
Hopping off the tram at Mühlburger Tor you see the huge neogothic Christuskirche. Next to it the promenade begins. |
| | Altkatholische Kirche The small church is used by the "altkatholisch" parish. The Old Catholic said goodbye to Rome and founded their own church in the late 19th century because they didn't agree with the dogma of the pope's impeccability. |
| | Haydnplatz The semicircle Haydnplatz is perhaps the prettiest square in town. Unfortunately one of the four houses was destroyed during the war and replaced with a modern building. Well, if I had a chance to move there I'd prefer to live in the ugly modern one and have the view of the 3 old ones... |
| | Fountain on Haydnplatz Haydnplatz with the 1920's fountain is the quarter's sunbathing area.
The building in the far background was built as a cadet school un the late 19th century. Nowadays it hosts the Oberfinanzdirektion (regional finance office). Well, there were times when I had my office in there... |
| | Generallandesarchiv The memory of Baden is stored in here: the Generallandesarchiv (state archive). |
| Promenade along Seldeneckstraße |
| | A relaxing walk |
| | Musikerviertel The quarter South of the promenade, known as "Musikerviertel" because all streets are named after famous composers, is one of the most expensive quarters to live. |
| Former Mühlburg train station |
| | Former train station The one and only building in the axis of the promenade is situated at its Western end. It used to be the train station of the suburb of Mühlburg, now a youth centre. |
