Staying over in the city centre | Marriott Liverpool City Centre Hotel |
As I was having to visit Liverpool, I was advised that the closest hotel was the Marriott in the city centre. It was certainly close to Liverpool Lime Street station and LJM University.
It was comfortable and close to many restauarnts and the shopping areas of the city centre. |
| | Liverpool John Moores University, Byrom Street This was the part of the University where I spoke to students who are in some shape or form studying Facilities Management. It was more enjoyable than I thought, and the students (well some of them) were very engaging.
I can tell you that they have a coffee shop which makes an excellent cup of coffee. |
| Memorials behind St George's Hall |
| | Gardens in the city centre When walking around the city centre I came across what can only be described as a memorial garden. It was quiet with only a few people sitting enjoying the peace that was present. There were many memorial stones commemorating many wars and social situations. I can imagine that many people focus some of their emotions on this area during stressful times. |
| | Did not quite reach this point I took several photographs of this area - sadly I did not have the time to recah the statue itself. |
| War memorial in front of St George's Hall |
| | Architecture and Memorials This was the front of the hall, and there was a very prominent war memorial. Either side of it there were mounted stautes of Queen Victoria and her dearest Albert. They both appeared to be rather young in appearance. |
| | Shopping Centres The Metquarter seems to be full of somewhat expensive designer shops. It is centrally located and was busy. Shop staff were indeed very friendly. |
| National Conservation Centre |
| | National Conservation Centre This was the only museum I was able to visit. It is interesting and enjoyable. It is one of the Liverpool National Museumsl; it has a shop and a cafe too. Whilst in there I was asked to take part in a survey on my views, I suspect the 2008 city of culture wants to develop this much more beyond this year. |
| | The Cavern Club Well, the one point in Matthew Street that many Beatles fans go to - sadly I am not a fan, but at least can say I have now visited the site. |

How is everything? We just come back from London and liked it a lot. As for Lovisa, we only stayed for a few hours, but it seemed really nice. See you! Carlos | JessieLang Sun Aug 9, 2009 17:20 UTC Yes, I definitely enjoyed my day in Torshavn. I have more tips to add. I was on a cruise that was supposed to also go to Greenland and Iceland. Much to my disappointment, Greenland was too icy for the ship to get there safely. Iceland was great tho. |
