350 sun days a year, temperatures up to 50 degrees celsius in the summer, and yet you'll very often see Asian women carrying umbrellas. They do this because they want to remain pale and not tan. In many cultures, pale skin is still regarded as a sign of higher status and beauty.

I understand that, but an umbrella in the sun still looks funny :-)

John and I were in IKEA (Dubai Festival City) on Friday 15th February 2008... and couldn't believe our eyes.

Once we managed to stop laughing, I took this photo:
Yes, dear friends. In the gardening section of IKEA, we can now buy bags of SAND.
