Mambélé is a very small village in the Southeast of Cameroon, it is also the starting point for all you’re trekkings or journeys into Lobéké National Park. Not far away from the junction you’ll find the WWF office where you can arrange everything. Your porters, guides, your taxes, entrance fees and so on. It is advisable to contact the WWF staffers in advance and inform them about your arrival. This Email can be useful: fmanga@wwfcarpo.org |
Mambélé itself is nothing more than: - a few wooden houses - some Baka huts - a church - 3 or 4 small shops - a auberge - a bar - a restaurant - during the dry season a lot of dust - during the rainy season a lot of mud |
but one thing you’ll certainly notice are all the logging trucks that pass the junction. You can use them to catch a ride to the north(Yokadouma) or south(Republic of Congo). The surrounding area of Mambélé is also worth an exploration. You can ask a local Baka to guide you around or to join them on their hunting/fishing/gathering trips. |
