| Page Views: 36 Last Visit to Frisco: January, 2008 | Second Driving Trip - 2008 by grandmaR - last update: Jan 31, 2008 |
Jan 10 - Thursday - leaving Shreveport I couldn't log on to the wi-fi as it said there were too many users, so we just checked out. We stopped at the Dairy Palace for lunch. They had 1/5th pound, 1/3 pound and 1/2 pound hamburgers. Bob got the 1/5th pound. I got chicken fried chicken, which I thought (incorrectly) would be just fried chicken. But it was like chicken fried steak - a flat piece of chicken (no bones) fried and covered with white gravy. They had Blue Bell ice cream, but I didn't get any. |
Getting to Frisco We left about 1255. and we got to our daughter's about 1348. She was on the phone looking out front for us, and we came in to the back. So she was surprised when Bob knocked on the back door. She had made a towel elephant for us. She said it was easy. Her husband was still in NY on a buying trip. |
| Miami daughter and two Frisco grandkids |
Friday - January 11 Our son-in-law got home from his buying trip. Our Miami daughter who was in Dallas for training rented a car and came out from Dallas and we all had dinner together. Our grandson taught us to how play with his Wii. |
Saturday, January 12 My mom's sewing machine had been given to our daughter, and they had taken the sewing machine out to refinish the cabinet. Bob and our son-in-law put the sewing machine together, and then our daughter and SIL went shopping for material for curtains while we watched the kids. Our son-in-law's dad took us all out to dinner for our son-in-law's mom's birthday at an Italian place call Busca di Beppo. It was family style where you order a dish and everyone helps themselves. |
| Youngest granddaughter is sad |
January 13-14 Sunday was church, and afterwards we watched the football playoffs. The outcome was sad for the local folks rooting for the Cowboys (which our SIL and grandson do). Monday, Bob took Bocci (our daughter's boxer dog) for a long walk, and then he and our daughter walked to get the kids from school. |
Tuesday January 15 Our son-in-law's father wanted to go out to Denton, so we did that. Went into the courthouse museum, drove through the historic district on Oak Street, and had hamburgers at Independent Hamburger and then ice cream at Beth Marie's Old Fashioned Soda Fountain. I decided to try an egg cream since I'd never had one. Tuesday night Bob took everyone out to dinner at Glorias. |
Wednesday January 16 We are baby sitting our youngest grandchild and having dinner at our SIL's parent's house because our daughter and the kids have things at church starting about 1700. Tomorrow we leave to drive to St. Louis via Little Rock |

CCLady Fri Jan 4, 2008 17:31 UTC Hi grandmaR: I admire how adventurous you are! Saw where your daughter lives in Frisco. Us to since 1979. We are "oldtime" Frisco folks! Daughter lived here long? I am retiring soon and need to get over my anxiety about traveling! CCLady |
