The grueling years for staying in shape

by BruceDunning - last update: Jan 29, 2008

The Finish is Best

Relax at the End
For about 15 years I participated in group runs, mostly in St. Louis. The best part of most of those were that looking forward to the finish line, I had a cigarette and beer waiting for me to enjoy as a reward. My neighbor and I were in 3-4 runs a year for 8-10 kilometer length.
One More Step for Man

Leading the Pack

The drugery to get to that end line is not always easy. I had a kneee operatin, neck operation, and maladies that hindered my ability to be the swiftest in the pack. But I did finish, and not last.
My Running Mates

The Moustache Held Me Back

Downtown runs at Busch Stadium were the ones to remember most. There were many times 5,000+ people participating.
Running in the Pack

Mid Way and a Lot to Go

A typical run down the street in downtown St. Louis. The scenery was great while leisurely strolling past the group.
Anxious to Start
A crowd of runners are ready to get this going. The wait brings that feeling in the gut to spend all that stamina before the kick off.
My Fishing Buddy

Many of Day at Peace and Serenity

There was a lake in the backyard and it had many fish, some small and others worth catching. Becky and I tried our skills during the year and she really did enjoy the comarradie of learning the method.
Cute When Young and Innocent.
Her Grandmother simply loved the smiling face of Becky and the vibrance she embuied. Good natured children are the best one to have. Later they get their own "personality".
She Would Bend over BAckwards to Please Us

The Youthful Bend

Becky took all the typical athletic sports, including ballet, gymnastics, dance, and was a cheerleader from 3rd grade through high school. She took piano lessons, so wouldn't you think she should be cultured by now?

Not visiting the US has been of necessity, not through choice. And when I do get there (maybe soon, don't know) it is the desert national parks which have long attracted me. So I will look, and wish, and keep my fingers crossed for a possibility! :-) J
