ON the stairs up to the weekly market (the "tempel" in the background) you find this fantastic mosaic animals . A funny little detail is that if the water reservoir under the market in the background gets to filled up, the water comes out through the mouth of these animals.

This hall has 89 columns. The perimeter columns acts as buttresses and lean towards the center. Some have internal channels wich carry the rainwater from the square above the water tank. It is also called the "Temple Doric" and was designed as a covered area to house a weekly market.

Notice that the roof of this hall is not covered with tiles but with earth. This is because that the rainwater should have the possibility to go through the roof, down by the columns and inside the watertank.

The parc is a big area with a lot of pavements and paths to walk around in, feel the calm and enjoy the Genious of Gaudi and the scenery over Barcelona.

One of the things to remember from the parc is the bridges. You can see how Gaudi was inspired by the nature in the forms, columns and the overall design of the bridges.

Parc Güell was designed from the beginning as both a public recreation area and a residential area. However the residential project was a failure but three houses were built.
