my interests

by 6aruna - last update: Mar 10, 2008

A friend of mine recently said there was nothing of you in your home page we need to know you better. So i skimmed a few intros and found that people have added their likes and dislikes and i found that i was instantaneously drawn to people who liked the books i like, the movies i like etc etc . Interesting there was atleast one person in this universe who shared your passion however outrageous it may seem.

now here goes my idiosyncrasies

about travelling

i love travelling alone
pros: you choose your itinary , if you want to sleep off a day nobody questions. All decisions and outcomes are yours.
cons: at times you want to share a beautiful moment , a beautiful picture with a fellow human being.

I love sleeping in tents .The child in us never goes away. does it? Once during heavy rains the whole floor was flooded.. but still...

During my travels i am perpetualy scared that i might run out of cash so on the last day i still have enough for a second round left.. but still..

i travel very light but carries books which i have great difficulty parting.

If i were asked to choose another country as a home, i shall always choose Italy and stay in Rome.

About photography

I love shooting people and usually ask permission. Children are one of my favourite subjects. I never get tired of shooting them. My second obsession is a cloud filled sky. Talking about sky i saw amazing cloud formations in Italy .
shooting in museum galleries is an absolute no no for me . I read somewhere that flash lights damage the original paint mix . I want my great grand children to see a few Rembrandts and Raffels.

My fav books( top 8)

Anna Karenina nothing to beat that opening line
Grapes of wrath
Rabindranath Tagore short stories
To kill a mocking bird
Good Earth
Crime and punishment
The Ring of bright water
A life on the road

my fav movies (top 6)
The sound of music
The seven samurais
Captain courageous
Vertigo
life is beautiful
one flew over the cuckoos nest

fav music groups

everly brothers
Simon and garfunkel
Louis Amstrong
Blues brothers

random thoughts

Is travelling a good idea?
from time immemorial people have been travelling in search of greener pastures, for better education, expanding their empire and sheer curiosity. It has been written that travelling is the best form of education,True. One visit to the pyramid is hundred times better than learning by rot the mathematics behind the making of the pyramid. It expands the mind of the person travelling ,increases tolerance and generally VTer's are better people.
After effects of this migration and easy transit is a sort of globalization .There is nothing called a disease confined to tropics now. English is slowly replacing regional languages as a mode of communication, fast foods are fast becoming a rage , cultural differences are fast disappearing.

now the question is
is it nice to thrust ourselves upon unsuspecting natives , shoot their pictures like there is no tomorrow and disrupt their lives????

Is it right to excavate mummies and tutankhamuns. Those very people who were buried with all decorum by their people with the belief that they enjoy a royal treatment after life. Is it right to transport them and display them before gaping public ? If RIP was written on his grave did we disrupt?
