The crazy travelers we met on our travels. In all our travels, we have never met any one crazy, not until we went on our trip to India, 2006. In this trip, we met 3 women, who share 2 common things. They are all teachers, and they are CRAZY!
Their names are listed from freakiest to the sanest, Chora, Margie, and Erika.(Not their real names for the public) They share the same common goal, Travel until they rot to death! |
| | Chora, the freaky Singaporean! (Age: mid 30’s) Among the 3 women, Chora tops it in being the freakiest, She’s Singaporean, but a real odd and crazy one! We met her in Calcutta’s International airport on our way back to Singapore. We simply ask her what flight she was on, and we found out we were on the same flight!
After this Chora never stop talking to us, her mouth was NON STOP! And when I say non stop I mean from 3pm all the way to 10am the next day! (Our flight was still at midnight! And the arrival time was the next day) She never stopped talking until in the airplane. (She sat separate from us) Mom got a head ache entertaining her!
Chora once said that on her way to Calcutta, her plane hit a major thunderstorm, the turbulence was so severed that the stewardess had to take a seat, but did this scare Chora? NO! She love it! She said it was sooo BEAUTIFUL, and she does not care if she dies on this airplane, at least she died excited and happy, she claimed!
She also taught my dad how to fart. Her steps are: Simply stick your hand on you’re butt hole and keep pressing it up and down, till the airs go out! (Disgusting!) She even wanted to show us a demonstration! Chora also has a weird habit of burping after she drinks soft drinks, she tries to burp loudly in front of us! She influenced my brother to have this habit!
But you know what? She is my favorite among the 3 of them! She is unique and one of a kind (Especially for a girl to do this things in front of people she just met!). |
Margie, The freaky German (Age: Mid 50’s) We met Margie in Darjeeling when they had a strike. (No stores and restaurants were open during that strike) So we were all force to eat in the hotel, which only served breakfast as a menu. While eating, a German woman approaches our table. She introduced herself as Margie.
But was she an ordinary German traveler? NO! After she introduced herself, she tells us that her 2nd happiest moment in life was when she got divorced! What kind of girl talks like that to people she just met!? She also told us about her babies, “The Rhodadendron Flowers.” I never met anyone so obsess with it, so obsess that she hike 20km just to see and take a picture of one!
She was so serious and obsess about it, that me and my brother began to tease her, “Woww! I want to hike the forest too!” I told her. She suddenly bloomed and her eyes went big, and she said, “THE FOREST!” she sounded senile and crazy when she said this! So we tried to ask her the same question, this time she said, “You mean the forest of Larva!” My mom gave us a stern look, she knew we were teasing her already! But you know what? She never knew we were teasing her, in fact she thought we were serious!
She was very rude to the staff in the hotel. Once we heard her complaining, “I WANT MY LAUNDRY!” Then she started clapping her hands sarcastically. She’s lucky that the people in the hotel were good, because if they were not, her head will probably be served for dinner!
She wants to go to the Philippines. So my mom suggested her Coron or El nido, but she said that’s too touristy, she wants a place were in its just her and the villagers and one internet station. I think she was asking for Sulu, a dangerous island in Mindanao, where in even lonely planet travelers have not been too due to the danger. If Margie ends up here, and she starts to be rude, they’ll surely have her head for dinner!
Note: Sorry, we forgot to take her picture, but anyway, she was blonde and had a lot of wrinkles, She looked strict too! | | | Her babies, “The Rhodadendron Flowers.” |

| This is "ERIKA" On a Yak. (YAKU!) |
| | Erika, the sweet Japanese! (Mid 30’s) Among the 3 travelers, Erika, is the sweetest among them! She loves to bow and laugh! We met Erika in Gangtok, Sikim, were in she was looking for companions to go with her to Tsongo Lake.(She was traveling alone, and tours have to be done with at least two people) So we accepted her to go with us, and she was so happy that she kept on bowing. Mom warned us not to be so loud with her because Japanese women are quiet and reserved individuals, boy was she wrong!
Erika, was not at all what mom thought her to be like! She was sooo TALKATIVE! Every time our jeep would turn around a steep mountain she would shout, “WHEEE!!!” So me and my brother joined her, and soon three of us started shouting, “WHEEE!!!” She loved us kids, and she enjoyed being like a child!
My dad though got shock that she sat in the middle between 2 men in the front sit, and she didn’t care about it! Once we arrived at Tsongo Lake, her fun didn’t stop yet, Every time she saw a Yak, she would scream “YAKU! YAKU! (In her sweet Japanese tone) I want to ride on Yak!” She was really like a child and me and my brother really enjoyed her company!
She is also very good to the poor, which I like very much. She volunteers works in Calcutta as a teacher! Mom claims she is a saint for staying in Calcutta for more than 4 months already! (My mom wanted out of Calcutta after 3 days only!) We asked her if she misses Japan, she made a funny face and said, “Nooo! I like Calcutta very much!” Wow, for a woman traveler alone in Calcutta? She must be brave! |
