Besakih in miniature

The terraces, and the split gates between them, look like Besakih temple in Bali on a smaller scale. Notice the typical wooden tiles on the roofs.

On the higher terraces are altars like this one.

Tortoise motif

The tortoise motif of Candi Sukuh you also find at Candi Ceto. Here in the steps of a side-altar.

And here is a tortoise as part of the pavement.

Candi Kethek

Candi Kethek is nothing more than a few reinforced terraces on the slope of Lawu mountain. A walk of 300 m through the forest takes you there. The path starts directly on the left of the entrance to candi Ceto, and takes you past a forested ravine.

At the top level of Candi Kethek this modest altar. The highest Hindu god, Sanghyang Tunggal, is pictured on the cloth effigy hanging from the roof.

Puri Sarashati

Puri Sarashati lies at the back of Candi Ceto. There is a spring here, around which this pond has recently been constructed. It is accessible to the public, but take off your shoes. In front of the ‘garden’ is a very modest souvenir stall.

The gate is open, but you are bidden not to sit on Puri Sarashati (Maaf, dilarang duduk di atas). It could have been transplanted here from Bali.
