I chose to travel with Gecko Tours on this adventure for numerous reasons. This was my first time in Sth East Asia and I would not be confident in travelling to the northern reaches on my own and Gecko seemed to offer a great deal for independant adventurers. also the guides were locals and i felt i'd get a much greater cultural insight if i traveled this way.

I was lucky to have a small group of 5 who were from around the globe and we all got on well.

One evening we decided to enlighten the children on the wonders of the game of cricket. The boys were exceptionally good for thier age and the fact that it was dark and we used a scrunched up cigarette packet as a ball and plastic bat.
