"Kingsley Plantation revisited" Fort George Island Travelogue by grandmaR

Fort George Island Travel Guide: 4 reviews and 34 photos

Our next objective was Kingsley Plantation at Fort George where we had anchored on our first time down the ICW.

This proved to be another part of the Timucan Preserve (and another passport stamp) inside of a state park.

It was free and we could tour the grounds (and take pictures of the boats anchored in front), but the house was being renovated and not available for tour.

The Ribault Club had a free exhibit at the visitor's center of the state park, but we didn't go to that.

Now we drove along A1A across where the Fort George River inlet used to be (it's a fixed bridge and a sand bar across it now and even a kayak would have to be portaged), ..

and through Little Talbot Island (a Florida State Park) on State Road A1A. The park covers the entire 2,500 acre island. Big Talbot Island State Park lies to the immediate north.

..and across the Nassau Sound bridge to Amelia Island.
