My Outlook On Life

by 88Starflite - last update: Dec 25, 2007

Just Some Thoughts

Sunset In Fira, Santorini A Time To Reflect!
I see most people here express theirs so here's mine. I see people who go thru life without enjoying life! I was guilty of this for a while, I did though to get ahead so that down the road I'll be able to afford all the things I want. The last few years I've gotten back to enjoying life, a few trips, back to my love of boating and skiing and just stepping aside lone enough to see where I've been and foucus on where I'll be tomorrow. During my last trip, Santorini,Greece, I really had a chance to see the world in a different way. Seems the European friends I met really helped me open my eyes and helped me walk one step at a time. There's so much that I was blind to. A friendly smile, the helpful hotel worker, the beauty of the moment. To realise that today is right now and that tomorrow is something that should be looked foward to. I often reflect back to the movie that brought me to Santorini, "Summer Lovers", and the line in it "We'll Be Dust In A Hundred Years". Well till then I'll make the most of my life. Watch the movie and reflect on life!
A Cave In Crete, A Different View Of Life Starts

Friends

Sometimes people that you know only in passing can say and or do something that can set in motion motovations that can change your life. A friend in Crete mentioned that "Everybody Has Somebody". Well it sounded right but then I started to think "To What Degree"? In Santorini a dear friend that I haven't seen in two years help me figure out how important friends can be. In all, now it's months later, I see that friends can sometimes know you better then you know yourself. Sometimes we need to look backwards and foreward at the same time. Not to do so is unproductive and wastes preciouse time.
On My "Too-Doo" list for next year.

Early Morning Swim

A couple takes a swim at sunrise. I think they really had a great idea, each sunrise is special and I think they appreicated this one.
What A Place For Jumping & Diving

I Finally Did It

Not the kayak, though I give him credit for braving the surf, I mean that I've always wanted to jump off the cliffs in Matala. So I swam out and climbed up a 30 ft. ledge and after some couching from a local I took the leap. What a rush to do something that you hoped to do but was afraid of doing. Beware, it can be dangerous and you need to ask a local about safety and what to do. Hitting the water at 30' is like a bomb going off around you, it's a great rush but you can get hurt at this distance.
a long Time Ago, Yet Still Today!

Ancient Thera, Santorini

It's the ruins of a Roman city at the top of a mtn. between Kamari and Pressia. While there I couldn't help but to wonder what it was like living there some 2,00 years ago. I think they really enjoyed their city, sadd it feel into ruin.
Makes One Wonder

Ancient Akrotiri, Santorini

Also known as Alantis, this was a very advanced city 3,500 years ago. When the volcano blew and the city was distroyed it is said to have set back mankind thousands of years. Funny how one island could change soooo much of our history. If you think we're advanced for our time Atkrotiri will amaze you.
