Although the Indrie is what most people come to see at Perinet, the other Lemurs here are lovely too. We watched this family of Woolly Lemurs for ages in the dense forest, perched on a steep slope. And they watched us too! |
| | Brown Lemurs The Brown Lemurs are quite common in Madagascar, but still very endearing |
Painted Mantela This tiny painted Mantela is Madagascar's frog fitted easy into a small hand. 'Perinet' claims a world record for number of frog species among rainforests of comparable size.
| | Tenrec This little Tenrec can run really fast when it doesn't want to be photographed |
Ruffed Lemur The Ruffed Lemur was in the reserve at Vakona Forest Lodge
| | Diademed Sifaka At Vakona Lodge you can visit the Lemurs on the island and feed them bananas |
Chameleon There are many types of Chameleon and they are quite easy to find
| | The Forest Perinet is a rainforest with average annual rainfall is 1700mm, falling on over 210 days per year. Though wildlife viewing is most productive from mid-September to April, the fauna is used to inclement weather and the area can be visited year-round. The wettest months are January to March; the driest, September to mid-November. The mean annual temperature is 18°C, with temperatures around 10°C in July and August rising to 26° or 27° November – January. |
