"Berlin Impressions 2007" Berlin Travelogue by laallen

Saturday morning we were winding up our trip. We stayed on Schützstrasse near Friederichstrasse. Took the dog for a walk near the site of the Prinz Albrecht Schloss - the SD HQ under the 3rd Reich.

We were just approaching the Topology of Terror site when we saw it -- the Finanzbundesamt -- once the site of Goering's "Reichsluftfahrtministerium".

The strangest scene: display of the black white red tricolor swastika flag (among other symbols of that era) is banned in Germany, yet there were 6 of em flapping in the breeze. (ignore the date stamp at the left, the camera was set incorrectly somehow)

We found out quickly why, the area had become a film set. We talked to one of the young guys keeping watch and probably helping with crowd control, and he told us a few details.

Now that the film set has unfortunately been the site of an accident with several people injured, anyone can get most of the details by looking at the news reports for today, August 20.
