UNESCO sites I've visited

by PA2AKgirl - last update: Jul 28, 2007

Auschwitz-Birkenau visited 05 (added 1979)
In the past, I didn't seek out UNESCO (UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) World Heritage Sites like I did national parks. However, it does influence me now when I'm looking for a new place to go. Usually, it's not because I want to cross another place off "the list" but because they're so incredible they're usually a primary point of interest.

Recently, I read through all the places around the world protected by UNESCO and realized I have a LOT more traveling to do;-)

The pictures are a few I've been to with the date they were added to the list of UNESCO's World Heritage Sites

If you want to see list yourself, here's the link: UNESCO's World Heritage Sites by Country.
Göreme National Park, visited 05 (added 1985)
The Cappadocia/Kapadokya region of Turkey is unbelievable...we lived about 5 hours from here and I can't wait to go back to see it again. One of the best places I've visited in my life so far.
Mesa Verde, Colorado visited 04 (added 1978)
Kluane NP, Yukon visited 06 (added 1979)
Salzburg, Austria visited 05 (added 1996)
La Fortaleza, Puerto Rico visited 04 (added 1983)
Hawaii Volcanoes visited 06 (added 1987)
Budapest visited 05 (added 1987, extended 2002)

saw a comment on a Frederick page about Thurmont....lol that brings back memories I used to go up there all the time to the lake but I remember a KKK rally in Thurmont we drove through and I gave them the finger. My husband was thinking I was crazy.

Ach! I missed it :( . Hope you had a happy birthday! I hate missing the cake and ice cream. Chocolate or white cake? The ice cream has to match the cake, you know :)
