MY AFRICA 2

by janiebaxter - last update: Dec 9, 2008

Uganda 1992

Rwenzori Mountains
Magnificent scenery - lakes, The Nile and mountains, as well as game parks.
The biggest crocs I have ever seen and hundreds of them!
I visited Kampala, Entebbe, Lake Victoria, Murchison Falls and The Victoria Nile, Kazinga Channel, Lake Mburo, Ishasha and The Rwenzori Mountains or "Mountains of The Moon"
Labadi Beach

Ghana 1993

A short Christmas break before Ghana had many tourists - Accra, Elmina and Labadi Beach

Tanzania 1995

Avoiding the usual tourist spots I chose to visit the wilder areas - Selous and Ruaha, Ras Kutani, Katavi Swamps, Lake Tanganyika, Mahale Mountains

Burundi 1995
Burundi was not on the itinerary! We ended up in Bujumbura as the plane taking us to Kenya was grounded because of a curfew due to tribal unrest. Didn't get to see much apart from the hotel
Young Lions in Selous
Priest in Gonder

Ethiopia 1996

Ethiopia is totally unique and like nowhere else I had experienced before or since. If you like a cultural trip, customs and people this is the place.
Addis Ababa, Blue Nile, Lake Tana, Gonder, Lalibela, Axum, Rift Valley, Harer.

My African Wedding 24th December 2002

Africa. The only place my husband to be could persuade me to get married!
We tied the knot under a tree in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, Kruger National Park then had the rest of our honeymoon in Rocktail Bay Maputuland and Addo Elephant Park near Port Elizabeth.
My Wedding
Djenne on Market Day

Mali 2003

A vibrant country full of colour and life. Wonderful people, tribes villages and towns full of fascinating markets and buildings.
Bamako, Segou, Mopti, Timbuktu, Dogon, Djenne.

Madagascar 2003

If you think you've seen animals that are cute you should see Lemurs! And they are everywhere on this incredible island, as are snakes and other reptiles and birds. Antannarivo, Perinet, Berenty and Anjajavy - and even more to be seen.
Sifaka
View of Leptis Magna from the Top

Libya 2004

The best preserved and least visited Roman sites I have seen, as well as The Sahara.
Tripoli, Zlitern, Leptis Magna, Sabratha and Ghadames

Tunisia 2006
A long weekend in Tunis, relaxing on the beach at The Residence

These you can see on the following pages which are complete -
Sudan 2006

Eritrea 2006

Algeria 2007
Tamanrasset and the Desert and Algiers

Mozambique 2007

Benin and Togo 2008
