Monumento a Vittorio Emanuele Sorry,This is Post Card. When I visited, it was rehabilitating of the front of this building. I decided that I would take a walk from the circumference of the Piazza Venezia which is navel of Rome, and came by Buss of No. 40 from the Termini station to the Piazza Venezia on that day. This is VITTORIANO that is the colossal white monument dedicated to the memory of Italy's first king and stands out clearly in the backgrand of the Piazza Venezia. |
| | Largo di Torre Argentina This Ruins are located in the important place of traffic at present day, and the middle of the town. In the time of the Roman Empire, the zone surrounded by the hill of Capitolini,a Tereve river, and Mont Quirinale called "Campo Marzio",it was a parade drill ground. and here is a center of it. Although internal inspection is impossible, since here is one step lower, you can have the fill enjoyment enough even from outside. |
Piazza Venezia This is the Piazza Venezia that I saw from VITTORIANO. There are also many the people and the cars which were come and go in this place. I realized that the Piazza Venezia was the center in Rome.
| | Roma from the Sky This is the view from VITTORIANO. |
The view from P.te.Palatino ( Isola Tiberina ) I went to the Piazza della Bocca della Verita from the Teatro di Marcello and challenged crossing the road which does not have a signal. Many cars flowed, came, and those do not stop and were fast. Although I was fearful, made myself crossed. I got the feeling that cannot live in Rome. If I cross the roads in the countries of Southeast Asia,in which probably transportation condition is bad than Rome, for example, Vietnam. however grate courage more I required? It tell me that I am a coward, Japan matches well for me. Can I live only in Japan? This is Isola Tiberina, the sandbank of the Tevere river, seen from the P.te.Palatino.
| | Tempo di Vesta This is the oldest marble Temple , which remains in Rome, and It was built at the end time of the 2nd century of B.C. This Temple is surrounded with 20 Corinth style pillars. Recently, it was proved that this is what was offered to Ercole Vincitore. |
Santa Maria in Cosmedin A fountain and the red roses were in bloom in front of this church. This church erected over the remains of Romen buildings in the 6th century and subsequently enlarged and trabsformed. Its tall and beautiful bell-tower pierced by two-and three-light mullioned windows is in the Romanesque style ( 12th century ). In the portico of this is preserved a large circular stone mask,it is the famous<mouth of truth> This is in my "Roman Holiday"album.
| | Pantheon ( Chiesa di S,M,ad Martyres ) I returned to the Piazza Venezia. I went to north. As for the passage to the Pantheon, many souvenir shops, restaurants, and street stalls which sell pictures, were crowded. Now, in the ruins of the existing Rome, the Pantheon keeps the most perfect figure and is world's largest stone-made construction. I was impressed by width, the size, the high level of architectural skills and the flow of the time of 1900. On the top of the Pantheon, the skylight with a diameter of 9m is open and it has become the internal only light source. Available light changes a direction with progress of time. It is very impressive and fantastic. |
