Since we have been to Stockholm quite a few times now, we have accumulated some facts, links and other resources which may be of use-interest to the fellow traveller. It is also a good excuse to show you some more pictures.

This page includes some practical details from our latest trips, links to our photos, blogs and maps, and some other choice information. More detail can be found in the specific VT tips listed at the bottom of our main Stockholm page.

August 1999 - 3 nights (at the end of our "Baltic Oddessy" holiday)

November 2001 - 5 nights (city break/business trip for Dave)
July 2002 - 1 night (start of our "Baltic Triangle" holiday)
August 2002 - 2 nights (return from main part of "Baltic Triangle" trip)

Return flight London City - Arlanda (SAS): GBP 94.40
Hotel Scandic Park (inc. breakfast): SEK 940/night (approx. GBP 75)
Public transport 3-day SL card: SEK 200 (approx. GBP 16)
Evening meal at Kvarnen (2 courses + beer): SEK 250 (approx. GBP 18)
Beer (40cl Spendrups) SEK 41 (approx. GBP 3)
Spending money: SEK 400 /night (= approx GBP 30)

Stockholm is not as expensive as many people believe. You can have a good long weekend (3 nights) for a total of around GBP 400 including return travel, 3- or 4-star hotel, meals at decent restaurants, drinks, public transport, museums and other spending money.

Dragons

All this and dragons too!

This is the statue of St George and the Dragon in Gamla Stan, and a very spiky dragon it is! You can see the original wooden version of this sculpture in Storkyrkan.
