On the way over we went through a pod of about 100 common dolphins. They are very playful and seem to enjoy swimming along or under the boat.
Like the rest of S. California, the islands have not received much rain. Was terribly dry and smoking was not permitted except for on the dock.
Quite a treat seeing 2 blue whales on the trip over. Very hard to capture on camera as you never know where and when they are going to appear.
Lucky for me we took the "quick" boat over. This boat holds over 100 passengers...on the way over we couldn't have had more than 20. On the return trip picked up campers on Santa Barbara Island then many more on Santa Cruz Island.

How absolutely stunning!! Simple, beautiful and far from the madding crowd.
I couldn't agree with you more about leaving wildlife in the wild! After seeing your pages, I am itching for another kayaking trip myself, I hope you enjoy Loreto.
What an interesting and beautiful National Park! Great photos and tips!
Hi Ann! What amazing pics!!! We have to go there some day soon! Best wishes, Ash & Eve
Ann, a fantastic looking group of island to explore!! Your tips and photos are awesome and very helpful too! I would love to experience some time out here off the California coast! First class job on this page!
duh, i first thought you meant the islands in the English Channel, did not know that they had an American cousin! They look great!
Great page on the Channel Islands! The kayaking looks wonderful.
This is one of the national parks we haven't seen yet - but definitely on our "Must See" list. love the dolphins - and looks like the kind of place we would enjoy camping.
Great pics!! I work near Channel Islands, but never been there. Will need to see it some time!! Thanks....
Where are the buffaloes? Oh, wrong islands;-] Good tips on the Channels and with the best means of transport: foot and kayak.
