Without a doubt our most scintillatingly brilliant As a favorite TV character once said: "If you're going to have delusions, they might as well be the really satisfying ones."
We spent the last few days in Oz in Darwin. You'll note that this travelogue is a bit short. There's a reason for that: we didn't do anything remotely interesting. A travelogue for Darwin would read something like this:
Day 1: Walked around the city a bit. Went to see a movie (Finding Forrester) to escape the heat. Found Matt and Lara (on purpose, this time) and went to dinner. Read. Slept.
Day 2: Wrote postcards. Paid taxes, finally. Mailed postcards. John got a haircut. Walked around some more. Met Matt and Lara for dinner again. On purpose, again.
Day 3: Shoved everything back into backpacks. Got on a plane to Malaysia.
The end.
Not that there wasn't anything to do in Darwin, mind you...there's historical stuff to see, and it's a nice city. Sometimes after all the running around being a tourist, real life intervenes and one needs to take a break from filling ones head with fascinating and enduring memories. :-)
Besides, unlike Alice (which was just really darned hot), Darwin was really darned hot and humid, and that put a damper (hah, I kill me) on our adventurous spirits at first. |
