PACKING TIPS

by stevemt - last update: Jul 31, 2007

Wet weather

Always pack a colapsable umbrella, takes no room and if you dont, count on having to buy 1. This happened to me the one time I didn't pack 1

Also a foldaway thin plastic rain cape is weightless, pocket sized, and invaluble.

1st stop London or SE Asia

for clothing in these situations, I only pack 1 spare pair underwear, 1 shirt, 1 spair pr sox. I buy the rest when I get there. Its so cheap its worth it.

Yes this is true even in London especially if the sales are on.

Get your case wrapped

If the facility is available at your departure airport. Get your case wrapped in cling film. Its worth it for the security and extra protection you luggage is accorded by the cling film.

Liquids in checked luggage

If you are goin to do this, wrap them firmly in a plastic bag, then in clothing and secure to to luggage body somehow. Most luggage manufactured these days will allow you to do this. This makes sure it doesent move.

This is important with the current situation of having no liquids in your carry on bags.

Corkscrew/bottle opener

You can guarantee that if you buy a bottle of wine there is never a corkscrew or a bottle opener in the room, and these take no room at all.
