Kohav HaYarden (the Star of The Jordan), called Belvoir by the Crusaders who built it, is situated above the valley floor where the Jordan River flows, hence the Hebrew name. Placed high on this ridge it has a moat around it and looking down the moat you can see the Jordan Valley and the hills of Jordan in the background.
