Can you believe it I actually had someone ask me "Why do you travel?" and I think he was serious. That is sort of like asking "Why do you breathe?"
But if I take the question seriously there are several reasons. Of course for the physical beauty of the world, there is so much there to see, be it a mountain top in Slovenia a cave in the Dead Sea, a flower in Utah, a river in Montenegro, or the seashore in Dominica. Then you have the man made things like the Golden Gate Bridge, the Acropolis, the Eiffel Tower, The Wailing Wall, or the Grand Coulee Dam. Then people are also makers of culture and each is different, you can learn and be a part, even if only for a short time, of a culture different from yours.
All of the above is true, but for me the best part of any country is the people themselves and Virtual Tourist has been a gold mine. We have had the opporunity to meet some people (now friends) when we visited their countries and some have been here to see and stay with us here in Israel.
This is a gallery of some of those friends. You might ask what we have in common, well, just take a look at the smiles, can you think of anything better.
(PS: I have put everyone in alphabetical order and anybody who notices their picture missing and has promised to send me a pic, well just send me one you like and I will add it)
