This lighthouse was really impressive. I have never been in a lighthouse not even when I went to Scotland and saw all those lighthouses. Going into this one made me feel like all the times I saw people go into a lighthouse - I always wondered how it felt to go into one and when I went into this one I felt I was fulfilling a dream I never thought I would experience. I felt a child again ! The door at the side was open and as we ran across the rooms which most probably were used by the British in the past I imagine how habitable it must have once been. I felt the warmth and experiences of the people who once lived there and I am sure people did live there because it was quite large and looked quite equipped. As my boyfriend decided to walk up and up this very narrow staircase we arrived at the top and the view that we saw was breath taking. Infact, you can see the pictures below ! |
| | View from the lighthouse Until we arrived at the top it was quite sacrey as I though the old and quaint steps would give way. I was told not to look down which infact I did not ! :-) better listen to men he he ! |
| View of Jerma Palace Hotel |
| | View of Jerma Palace Hotel I took this photo because the Jerma Palace hotel has been sold and soon most proabably will be pulled down as they are doing to some buildings in Malta !! Infact recently in Malta we have seen quite a break through in the pulling down of buidlings in order to building others which are more bombastic and most probably that bring more money ! ehh yeah money is the cause of everything bad in life I guess ! and yes in Malta we have been affected too ! Malta is not the quiet and laid back place my nanna used to describe it as ! Gone are those days ! |
| The eye of the lighthouse |
| | The eye of the lighthouse This is what I call the eye of the lighthouse - even though it was rusty but still stood there - I guess for many years it has been here ! Don;t much my history much but I guess it was built by the British so that the boats and ships will notice that there is high point or rock or even the port in the vicinity. |
| | Small tower this is a small tower which was on inlet across the cliff we were standing on. Around the Maltese islands there loads like these towers - I think they are so nice and cute ! Don;t know I must have this thing for chapels and small towers. |
| | View of Freeport from Lighthouse This photo I took from the window of the lighthouse right from the top !!!
It's like the freeport is in prison :-) |
| | Rare Flower that grows in this area I still have to ask my friend the name of this rare flower |
