Well, having only lived here for 4 months by the time it was my birthday, I decided to celebrate for 30 days - during which time a lot of our friends came to visit from London and other parts of Spain....
Here's a tiny snippet of what we did on the actual weekend of my birthday...
The first night all started with the Rum and Cokes... also known as el desayuno de los campeones..... |
|  | Tapas... Anyone who knows the Spanish drinks' measures will know why food is so important here too!! All together for some tapas in the afternoon... then back home for some siesta before the next night out ;) |

| | House party So this was now Saturday, and the day of my friend Zuzy's birthday :) We were all invited to a gastronomic feast house party by a local Asturian friend..... what a treat!!
Here is Juan and I with Zuzy and Arif who came over from London. |
Meeting at the bar Next, off to Chueca to meet others in a bar, chat, of course enjoy a couple of cocktails!!
After that we went to a local discoteca, Independance playing brit-pop (to the great delight of my Spanish amiga!!) and later to the only psy-trance club we have so far found in Madrid... Yasta | | |
| | Birthday Cake So we arranged a surprise birthday cake for ZuZy from the newly opened party cake shop.... and when I wasn't looking, they got another one for me too!! Chocolate of course... |

| | Floating Away the Day... And finally it was the Day!! A morning was spent at el Rastro - where I got to buy some new clothes - and then an afternoon with a picnic floating on the lake in El Retiro (well - someone was rowing the boat, but it certainly wasn't me!!!)
A perfect way to end our fun weekend... |
