St. Porres Catholic Mission Hospital This is the hospital that I worked at in Cameroon. It is a Catholic hospital run by nuns. The nurses where white old-school dresses and white caps. I learned so much about Cameroon culture there and got to experience some amazing things I only read about in magazines. I saw how international funding monies where used after they had trickled down from the government. I saw people dying from AIDS, dehydration, malaria, anemia, malnutrition, and pneumonia. |
Hospital Orphanage- kids taking care of kids I spent some time at the orphanage. Of course you would never feel like you spent enough time there. The children were plump, fed, dressed and looked after. They were also starving for attention, did not get much stimulation, had runny noses, had no bed nets, but generally happy. I fell in love with Larenzio (Larry). He was smart gorgeous and had 2 little. |

Project Hope Project Hope is an organization that does the HIV/AIDS education for the hospital. They do outreach, pre and post test counseling, ARV distribution, mother to baby transmission prevention, and testing. People in the area know of project hope and respect it. The one drawback is that since it is funded by a Catholic Hospital there is no talk of condoms or sex. |

Market in Bamenda The market in Bamenda is amazing. Be prepared to wheel and deal and be overwhelmed. Walking around we saw this cool poster. I have no idea how it got there or if the man even knew it was there. But you don't see things like this very often. |
