.... it started off as a quiz More than two years ago I came across a quiz on Don's (aka Nemorino) VT homepage
- and being a fan of quizzes I participated and
W O N !!!!
I won a ticket for the Frankfurt opera and it was my choice of what to see.
It sure took a while to make plans, but finally we opted for
the Magic Flute by Mozart
which was played on a Sunday afternoon in January 2007.
My husband Madschick joined us
and this day turned out to be truly magical!

|  | Heinz and I left Karlsruhe in the morning and went to Frankfurt by train. Since we had arrived a little early we walked from the trainstation to the Main and enjoyed a little walk along the river. |
| | At 1.30 p.m. we met Don at the "Chicago Meatpackers", a restaurant which not only has a resemblance with the original quiz question, but also great food and a very convenient location!
We enjoyed lunch there and Don gave us a superb introduction to the Magic Flute! |
| | After lunch we only had to cross the street to reach the Opera - booked out for the whole season - but thanks to Don we had our tickets!!! |
| | Don showed us around a little, so that we could see the stage from close by, the orchestra and the balconies from a different angle! And of course we had to have our picture taken!!!

| | The seats on the 3rd balcony were fantastic!! We had a fantastic view of the entire stage and orchestra and enjoyed every single minute of the opera (which is three hours long!!!) |
| | After 1 1/2 hours there was a 30 minute break and we thoroughly enjoyed this break on the balcony of the opera - with a gorgeous view of the Frankfurt skyline at dusk! |
| | As I mentioned before: time went by so fast!!! We enjoyed the opera so much, it was an enjoyable afternoon for sure!!!
On the way to the trainstation we were really rushing to reach our train and I ended up having an asthma attack, but we did reach the train and as I write this I can breathe normally again, so all's well that ends well!!! |
