Here, one can enjoy a fine meal, shop, and take in some nightlife. It's a pleasant, fairly safe place to visit until very late.

North Beach

Here is another popular area to visit at night. A bit seedy, but there's always plenty of action.

Chinatown

This area takes on a different look after dark. Not too much nightlife, but still a good place to browse.

The Transamerica Tower

This building takes on a rather eerie appearance after dark, especially when it's foggy.

Stockton St Tunnel

This tunnel runs beneath Bush St, near Chinatown. It's a major artery connecting North Beach and Fisherman's Wharf to Market St.

Market St

Market St runs directly through the heart of downtown San Francisco. It has some rather seedy bars, adult theaters, porn shops, etc. There are also quite a few bums around. Better watch yourself here.

The Ferry Building

It's beautiful, especially after dark. Here it is, seen from across Embarcadero St.

One of San Francisco's many ubiquitous seagoing birds, hanging out on the pier near the Ferry Building. I expected all of them to be asleep by this time.
