Natur Denkmal This little plaque denotes the ancient oak tree as a Natural Monument - it is situated at the Rosengarten (on Steinstrasse) and is protected from being felled during any city development. There is another plaque at the base of the tree which reads "Freedom Oak".
Plattdeutsche This wall plaque is inscribed in Plattdeutsch - Low German- and was indecipherable by my local guide! Any help in translation would be very welcome! Thanks to VT member Airpunk, I have been informed that the first line reads: "The new town needs many houses", We are still working on the second line!!
Glockenspiel The Glockenspiel situated outside the cafe in University Square was, according to my local friend last heard played about 10 years ago. Apparently it is becoming increasingly difficult to find Glockenspielers nowadays!
