Western Australian Wildflowers

Wildflower West Australia
Kangaroo Paw West Australia
Well I had heard all about the Western Australian wildflowers and had seen a few at Kings Park. And I had heard that they are definately worth seeing, but me, being the typical tropical flower lover (and I must admit, I thought Australian natives were pretty messy type bushes with piddly little flowers, also a bit scruffy looking)....

....well it took me quite a while to actually agree to spending a couple of days driving around the countryside to view these flowers everyone says are so beautiful and extraordinary.

Well as you are about to see, I was in for a pleasant surprise!!
Everlasting West Australia
Bottlebrush

Of course there is one native that I have always liked.
This is the bottlebrush (grevillea),......

........ but I was about to find out that there are a whole lot of other flowers that I now think are just as lovely:o)

Snake bush haha......what an unusual name to describe such a pretty flower!! Perhaps they leave a bit of a bite if you were to eat one :o)

Now don't try that at home kiddies....... :o)

Pretty hey!!

This flower is stunning!! I was gobsmacked!!

Found just outside the country town of Perenjori (we were told the exact place by the local info centre), and when we arrived we were all quite taken aback by how gorgeous and unique this flower is!!

I'm definately going back next year and I'm sure you would too!!

Ever seen such an awesome blue coloured flower?!!

Well now I have :o) ..... and they were everwhere!!

If you are thinking of doing a wildflower trip, then please come and share with me ours!!

We had a spare 2 days, so packed the car, kids and cameras and set of up north, staying overnight in a Caravan Park at Dongara.

We certainly did a few hundred k's but thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Ann - lots of good tips of stuff I never knew about--my first trip was in 1974 and then again 1987 when my husband's ship was going thru.....
