Common Morrocan animals...coming soon | My friend, the King of Fes |
I will get a bit more in here - my American friends with some pull in the PETA/SPCA/Donkey Rescue/etc. can get their teeth cut in Morocco....
While you are here (in Morocco) feel free to stop someone from scaring a cat into the street, beating a donkey for no good reason, throwing rocks at peaceful dogs -
"But, the abuse, you know, if it's part of their culture...'" you say.
F*ck im, Jam sez. You can't please everybody. Stop cruelty to funky fuzz monsters. |
| | From Mean to Mister Mean He was much nicer to his donkey when I gave it the name "Noqra" (Silver).... he wanted me to take a goodbye pic of him being friendly with Noqra. I let him know that I would see him at the Eid, that I would miss him, and if Noqra looked shabby or hurt when I got back that I would kick his ass down the side of Jebel 'Hed. |
Mad Woman and her sheep | | | After the husband in France died...family of sheep |
|
| | They are not considered wise In accord with the superstitions of my Italian relatives in Varzi, the owl in Morocco is considered evil. And dumb. What-the-f*ckever.
Why? You know, there are hadiths in Islam that look like they were lifted right out of the most wacky and mindlessly violent parts of Deuteronomy which contains the original holy advice about killing white eyed black dogs, snakes, owls...
To anti-nature hadith thumpers I say this, "God has revealed the best 'Hadith'; a book that is consistent, and describes both ways (to heaven and Hell). The skins of those who reverence their Lord shudder therefrom, then their skins and hearts soften up and receive God's message. Such is God's guidance; He guides whomever He wills. As for those sent astray by Him, no one can guide them." (39:23)
So - cruelty to critters: it ain't in the Quran and as far as this hot poppa is concerned, you got no leg to stand on or kick with.
Fellow Moroccans, travellers, lovers: be nice to animals.
Oh, and if I catch you messing with the animals - make sure to first drop by my sports tips section to see if I am not up for smacking you around a bit. |
Lovely creatures, goats. Amongst the most philosophical, too. Chase them around the mountains a bit and see some ideas loosen up in that thick sedentary head of yours, my dear CyberTravelApe. | | |
| Lovely old Amti and her 1001 cats |
| | People who love cats can sometimes be decent people.
They tend more to become emissaries for all things Cat-like and are therefore probably Crypto-Felines themselves....waiting to claw everything we hold dear, stop us from reading and writing by sitting on our computer keyboards, and chewing phone lines to the outside world.
Moroccan cats seem to have a good feel for the lay of the Fes medina - let them be your guides. |
Atif - not in Morocco but not forgotten. Gliss!
My obese Moroccan speaking dog who lives in the Deep South of the US right now.
Unless you are a native speaker, I am sad to say he probably speaks better daraja than you. | | | My old New Orleans pal who speaks daraja |
|
| Me, Brahim and the sacrifice (also Jamal) |
| | I do eat quite a few of these friends of mine... ...just so we don't get too PETA-y here... This picture was of a sadaqa - more on that...
I am a firm believer that any meat eater should be able and willing to kill his future meal with his own hands - Morocco offers you plenty of options there.... |
