Eclipse of the Moon, Feb 20, 2008

This was a bright eclipse
and sky was clear for it
View through telescope

Eclipse of the Moon, November 8, 2003

There was a very clear view of this eclipse
It was clear through all of it.
Taken from villlage of Greenwood Lake, NY
at the north end of the lake with same name.

This waxing crescent was taken with
a digital camera held up to the
eyepiece of a telecope ( Meade ETX-125 ) a 5"

Another crescent, this one 4 days after New Moon

Used 40mm eyepiece and held a digital
camera on a tripod, up to the eyepiece.

Moon with Earthshine

This is a simple 3 day old crescent moon
with the non-sunlit portion lit up by the light
reflected off the Earth - that's why its bluish
This kind of thing is best seen in the spring evening with a waxing crescent,
or in the fall morning before sunrise with a waning crescent.
that's when it is sufficiently above the horizon to be seen well
when the sky here is dark enough.

Taken in May 2005 at Rockland Community College
near Suffern NY.
Used a Coronado Solar Filter
digital camera (Canon) held up to
the eyepiece of a 4" refractor
these filters are neat but expensive
they have a small scope (Coronado) which works quite well and is not
as expensive.

 Hey John! Missed you! Thank you for your 'early' birthday wishes. My birthday is actually on the 25th, so I still have a few days to be a year younger than I will be on the 25th. heehhe..I wish I get a new camera for my BD:):) Janet
