It's really beautiful driving through the forests on the single lane road going to the castle's parking lot. Sometimes you might worry about going over the edge on some of the tight corners...but the sunlight coming thru the trees brightens your spirits all the way along. Of course it is one way up and one way down. You could never pass even a horse cart on this road. |

great windows for great views
| | Are you an architecture buff? they don't make casement windows like these anymore... |
The old stone Carriage House Christopher was playing around with ringing the bell. This is where you board the trolley for the remainder of the trip. There are rest rooms and snack bar here...as well as a nice orientation display of old photographs.

Tom81 Mon Oct 26, 2009 15:16 UTC Hi Janet - Really enjoyed your pages on the Shaker Village. We visited the Hancock Shaker Village on the New England trip. It was fascinating! Will hopefully get those pics up soon. | icunme Wed Oct 7, 2009 06:53 UTC So sweet here - the lake, the museum of houses, the charming info center, castel/mansion - just really good Americana! Lovely tour with such a nice feel. You did it again! Ciao bella, <(•¿•)> | lynnehamman Thu Oct 1, 2009 02:37 UTC Hey Davy Crockett- pardon my ignorance, but what is a whirly-gig? I could quite happily live in that Castle in the Clouds . Saw a doco recently on Shakers and their beautiful chairs. Nice page & pics. | tiabunna Wed Apr 22, 2009 11:14 UTC That 'Castle in the Clouds' is certainly impressive, interesting that it's contemporary to our Iandra. What a marvellous setting for it too. |
