"BoSox vs. Orioles at Camden Yard" Baltimore Travelogue by Tom_In_Madison

About 15 of us went to the Red Sox - Orioles game. Luckily we were under the roof and not outside in row DD because it drizzled on and off all night long.

We went to The Wharf Rat for a pregame meal and 'warm-up'. No, it has nothing to do with the great Grateful Dead song unfortunately.

From my distant beer and rain-clouded foggy memory, may not be accurate: Sox jumped out to an early small lead, O's came storming back with 5 runs. Sox came back and scored a few more to take a 5-4 lead. O's walked Big Pappi 4 straight times. O's gave it a shot in the 9th, but a game-ending double-play spelled doom for the Baltimore Nine.

They also have these little marks out in the outfield area that marks where people have hit long home runs. Pretty cool.

Then it was off to some Irish bar to watch Claus hit himself in the head with a marracca.

The park is walking distance form all the downtown hotels, and it's so much cooler than having to drive somewhere. Good seats all around. Right field you can stand out there and watch, but there's a barrier so you have to be at least 5 1/2 feet tall to see over it. Boog Powell has a barbecue joint out here and there's a big sports store carrying everything O's in the right field area too. Bought my nephew a postcard here.
