I am so lucky in more ways than one. Among my wife's multiple talents is her art of cooking. I don't want to give the wrong impression as I know how to cook as well, and sometimes I do. But, I especially love my wife's cooking. |
| I can't describe how good this is. |
| | Why eat out? There are a number of restaurants that I like to go to in Niigata from time to time but, my wife's cooking is so good I often would rather just eat at home. |
| Salmon, pumpkin, okra, and red bell peppers |
| | Healthy eating One of the things you may notice is that our portions are not so huge.
Tomokita tries to make sure that what we're eating is healthy and that the amounts are satisfying but not too much. |
| | Japanese style From time to time we have more of a Japanese style meal.
This time we had tempura (fried vegetables) with somen (wheat noodles) and leeks. Tempura itself is one of the least healthiest of Japanese dishes (because of the frying). I we've only had it once so far. |
| | Japanese style Chinese food Here we are having some most excellent gyouza (pot stickers) and Japanese style ramen (thin boiled noodles). The way my wife cooks it, it's pretty healthy. Lots of vegetables and lots of garlic in the gyouza. Delicous. |
| | Japanese western style food Sometimes the dishes are simple but, I like them this way, too. The mushrooms are of the asian variety. The spaghetti is even better than my mom's (Sorry mom, but it's true). |
| O-sechi riori (New Year's food) |
| | 2008 New Year's Dinner (O-sechi riori) Most of this is store bought. But, it was fun anyhow. New Years is a big time for feasting in Japan. So, my wife and I went out and put this all together. Look at the suishi. The soup was homemade and delicious at that. |
| Delicious, Healthy, and Light |
| | My wife's salads are awesome I have something like this about 3 times a week. Comprising mostly just of vegetables, I like having a lighter meal a few times a week. I especially like to have something like this whenever I've already had enough protein for the day (2 eggs for breakfast for example). |
