Exotic Parfum and Fancy Underwear

by Geisha_Girl - last update: Jul 15, 2008

Summer of Love

....and many more!
I recently received these beautifully written words:

We remember when you were small, we would read you fairy tale after fairy tale.
We loved sitting with you, telling you all those stories with their happy endings.
We loved holding you close as you waited for what would happen next.

As you write your own stories out in the world, we hope each chapter makes you happier than the one before. We hope that when things get complicated or challenging, you'll remember how strong and talented you are and know that you have what it takes to handle anything that might come along.

And we hope that you'll always....always feel the deep love, support, and pride that are with you today and everyday.

With Love as always,

Mom and Dad

These words were written in a card that was attached to a gift box filled with my favorite exotic parfum........
and fancy underwear??!!
(Just goes to show: Nobody knows you better than your own parents!) ;-)

Coming from my Mom and Dad, those words I will always cherish.

If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't exist.
If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't believe that true love exists.
If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't believe that Fairy Tales do come true.

Each chapter of my life is dedicated to them.

Thank you, Mom and Dad, for always keeping that smiley, supportive "poker face" on whenever I come home to tell you I'm leaving to trek the Himalayas......or going on a six-week jaunt Around the World with a Frenchman......or going to Africa (again!) to save babies and climb a mountain. No matter what crazy, outrageous activity I'm into next, you always support me and have confidence that I am out there making the next story more exciting than the last.

And yes, Mom and Dad, you are so right. I always feel the deep love, support, and pride that are with me everyday. It is all the incredible people in my life who make each chapter happier than the one before.

This has been THE summer of a lifetime. What I call the "Summer of Love."

So much love coming from the most extraordinary women, men, and children one person can ask for in a lifetime.

Some of the most amazing stories have evolved in the past few months that will leave an imprint on my life forever.
Tum Raider Center Stage

Phenomenal Woman. Phenomenal Child

Out of all the chapters in my life, I think this one will go down as one of the most amazing. The story of this mother and child will be an inspiration for many generations to come.

The woman in this picture has been a very good friend for many years. Proud founder of our globe-trotting Lemon Drop Crew. Last year we took our first trip to Africa together as volunteers. They say Africa changes your life.......and this woman is living proof of just how much visiting this land can have an impact on your life.

During our visit, we encountered many magnificent children. Many left a lasting impression on us, but there was one particular child who stood out most amongst the crowd. Just less than a month after our return from the trip, my friend looked me straight in the eyes and said, "I am going back to Tanzania. I am going to adopt a baby girl."

There were many in her life who didn't believe she was serious. She only had to tell me once and I knew just how serious she was. And I knew which baby girl she wanted.

For 9 months, this woman struggled through bouts of malaria, hepatitis, and days spent in the villlage hospital. She survived it all. She even managed to survive the bureaucracy and dodged the threat of bribery that many of those corrupt in the government try to get away with. Amidst all the long waits, the frustration of the slow court systems, she never gave up hope.

During this time she even helped design and build an art gallery at the orphanage featuring local Tanzanian artists, she coordinated a fundraiser to help raise funds for the orphans to have a blow-out Christmas party and Christmas gifts. She also set up volunteer teaching programs on how to use the internet at local schools, and helped many other foreigners, like herself, establish local ties to help out with their adoptions.

She had her kin folk in Kansas and her friends in SF holding vigil each day, praying for her safe return with the baby. She had her own guardian angels watching her back in Tanzania.....and her own Tanzanian angel by her side throughout the whole ordeal.

The angel's name is Tumaini (Swahili for "hope"). We affectionately call her "Tum Raider" 'cuz she's a badass baby girl. Abandoned at birth and left for dead in a poor rural village, she was rescued by some villagers and brought to the care of the "Light in Africa" orphanage which is where we first met her. A true survivor just like her "Mom."

It was the week of the one year anniversary from when she first laid eyes on this baby girl in the orphanage.......when the judge finally granted her the adoption.

She received the stamp of approval on the adoption certificate, and a week later the mother and daughter were on a plane homeward bound back to the U.S.
Tumi is now an offiicial U.S. Citizen.

It was the beginning of summer and after nearly 24 hours of flying time, the first thing this new Mom wanted to do was introduce her baby to her best pals and her favorite local band at Music in the Park. 9 months in Tanzania wasn't gonna slow down her GROOVE!

Once this photo was taken, it was posted on the Band's website the next day. Tum Raider hadn't even been home for 24 hours yet, and she was already a *Rock Star!*

There will be many more chapters written on the life of this baby girl. I feel so blessed to be part of her life and excited to watch her blossom into a beautiful young woman. Not only did she gain a phenomenal woman as a Mom, she also gained many loving new Aunts and Uncles who will see to it this little girl has her passport filled before she graduates Kindergarten.

Soon the new Lemon Drop Kid will be enjoying fresh lemonade in her sippy cup while sailing to Capri......
The Dream Maker

Billy the Movie Producer

This is the man who has lived his life behind the Velvet Rope.

Billy is a classic.

He's Golden Age Hollywood
He's the Vegas Rat Pack
He's Jazz at the Lenox Lounge
He's the man who owns the last of the "Private Reserve" Sinatra cigar collection
He's 'Ol Blue Eyes in Hoboken

A business meeting with Billy always includes the best views of San Francisco, a bit of classic Sinatra playing in the background, and a never-ending round of mojitos on a warm summer day.

When Billy tells you he wants to publish your writings, you listen.

When Billy tells you he wants to promote you as a "Party Planner for Celebrities," you listen even closer.

When Billy tells you he wants to send you to Italy to meet with his friend, a Royal Italian Prince....and write a column on it, you listen and then call all your best girlfriends and scream in their ears.

Billy is the stuff dreams are made of.

The Power of the 'S'

I am now a true disciple of the S Factor

So what exactly is the S Factor? It's a full body workout both mentally and physically stimulating.

Okay so what REALLY is the S Factor? It's the Pole dancing, striptease workout that's taking the nation by storm. Oprah loves it. Even Conan O'Brien tried it (and loved it!). It's getting a lot of celebrity air play and was created by the actress, Sheila Kelley (featured in the pic). The S Factor goddesses affectionately refer to it as "Pole-ates."

It's a new form of dance and aerobic workout that allows a woman to freely express herself in ways she never imagined she could. (Who would've known I could be a Descending Angel slithering upside down on a pole!) But it's not just about releasing the "inner stripper." Sheila Kelly trailblazes the country speaking on behalf of this movement.....a kind of Neo-Feminism. For women, it's about owning our bodies. It's about being dangerous and feminine all at the same time. It's about empowerment. It's non-judgemental. It's self-confidence. It's taking back what was taken away from us women......our ability to be powerful yet sensuous, and not having to emasculate ourselves to use that feminine power.

It proves just how powerful the female body can be.

I could talk for hours and hours on the benefits of this movement and what it has done for me both physically and mentally. But I'd rather just recruit all my gal pals and have them become believers themselves in this movement. The classes are for women only and our classes are filled with some of the HOTTEST female CEOs, Professors, Soccer Moms.....you'd be surprised at the diverse group of women who come out each week to release their "inner erotic goddess." The students are hot and the instructors are even hotter. You leave class knowing you can take on the world after you nailed that last pole trick.

What other workout can get your abs toned, your upper body strengthened, your thighs rock solid......all the while you're stripped down to nothin' but a G-string and 5-inch heels, cat pouncing to Marilyn Manson?

Ladies, if there's ever an S Factor studio opening up in your neighborhood, take a class and see for yourself just how much power you have. Own your body. Be dangerous. Be playful. Be sensuous.

I guarantee you will blow him away with these moves. ;-)

(I'm currently working on having Sheila go global and open up a studio in Perth. I can think of one particular sausage-loving Aussie girl who was born READY to "release her inner erotic goddess." ;-))))

Sweetness! (Are you Listening?)

Dear Tbone,

Thank you for another memorable weekend in New York City.

The Lemon Drop Crew can always count on you and your NYC peeps to show us how to party like true *Rock Stars* in that city. A birthday bash is never the same without you.

From scrumpdilly "duck sandwiches" at The Park, to fresh and crunchy crab legs at Nobu, to getting fresh and crunchy drunk at Uncle Ming's, to watching well-endowed GO-GO Boys at The Roxy, to gawking at dead bodies at the seaport, to licking ice cream cones straight outta Brooklyn, to watching women dance in bedsheets at Hiro, to full VIP treatment and struttin' with the supermodels at HOME.

I can always count on leaving Manhattan Island with a big smile on my face, a human bite mark on my body, and LOTS of alcohol in my blood stream.

Thank you for always keeping it real.

You are a very cherished friend, Tommy Tbone.

Ohh.....GMun just loves ya!!!

Word.
Sexy in the City

La Dolce East

It's always great to know you have free-spirited friends whom you can contact at any given time and say,

"I'm hosting another birthday bash in New York City! You comin'?"

OR

"So-and-so is in town and we're throwing them a huge party! You comin'?"

OR

"Hey, I'll be in Paris. We're heading out for cocktails! You comin'?"

You throw those options out to them and you know they'll do their gosh darn best to be right there with you (and bring fabulous friends along to join the fun!)

These folks are the great friends who are always there to indulge my wildest whims.

Why?

Because they can.
You guys had me at "Hello"

La Dolce West

The only thing I have to say about this motley group is this:

For better, for worse
For richer, for poorer
In sickness and in health
'Til death do us part

I look at this pic and it just solidifies it for me.
You guys "complete" me.
Un Bonheur de Vivre!

French Vanilla

I simply couldn't close out this album without giving credit to the man responsible for contributing to some of the most provocative chapters in my life......that will surely be given an NC-17 rating. ;-)

(Put away the reading glasses Mom and Dad. You're not allowed to read those chapters!)

Voler d'étoile en étoile, sur le dos d'un dragon......
