| | “our” Bear named by Kiwi “Wee Bear” and Big Ear “our” Bear named by Kiwi “Wee Bear” and Big Ears best friend of Noddy's you know the a wise, bearded brownie who lives in a toadstool house at the edge of the woods, and rides a red bicycle. Well Big Ears is indeed very clever. Navigating through our village traffic can be tough enough on four wheels. Try Big ears four paws. |
| | She is Back -- “Wee Bear” and Big Ear The paws belonged to a black bear that was spotted a little after 1 p.m. Saterday afternoon near my wife’s Racquet Club and wandered north across the biggest road in our town being confronted by our local police. Officer (P.C.) Plod, described the bear as about 225 pounds, ( not quite as wee) likely female and possibly the same bear that was seen in April near Fishkill Rural Cemetery and was sighted at least once more since then. Officer (P.C.) Plod contacted authorities from the state Department of Environmental Conservation, but they declined to respond with a tranquilizer gun to take the Big Ears away because it wasn't being aggressive or disruptive. It is well know that Big Ears is just to clever. Officer (P.C.) Plod called the bear shy. "She didn't want any part of any human," he said. The other major street Rapalje Road was closed for about a half-hour while the bear wandered through the neighborhood and climbed a tree. Officer (P.C.) Plod said he advised residents to leave Big Ears bear alone and let it wander back into the woods. They were asked to call police if the bear caused any problems. |
