Please read this before e-mailing me

by mke1963 - last update: Aug 5, 2006

I get a lot of e-mails from VT members, most of which I do not reply to.

There are many reasons for this, but below is a list of the main ones:

1) I do not do travel research free of charge. If you want to know how to book an airline ticket or find out an opening time of a museum, know what the weather is like in Beijing (or anywhere), do your own research or ask in a forum. If you cannot find what you need on the internet, I am happy to do your research for my normal consulting fee of US$325 per hour (plus 5% Chinese sales tax), with a minimum charge of one hour's work. Payment is to be made in advance either by EFT or through Paypal.

2) Please do not offer me a job teaching English at your college or university. Do the maths on my consulting fee above. I am not a young graduate or a hard-up student.

3) I don't meet up with people to show them around Beijing or anywhere except for at weekends at the rate shown above (minimum time 4 hours).

If you need information about China/Beijing/wherever, just ask a question in a forum. There are many people who can answer your questions. Some may even want to show you around free of charge.

None of the above applies to known friends.

Hi Mark, Your best of VT is a great idea. I like your commentaries, especially the gems of humour and observations. You do write well. Keep it up.
