| Babushkas Ethan and Hansi |
Pierogifest 2006 was HOT, HOT, HOT. Not just because the temperature hovered in the 90-100F range but also because we had two cross dressing male babushkas this year, none other than Mr. VT himself Hansi (waalewiener) and the cutest babushka I've ever seen, Ethan (coair13). Hansi was a hit with all the ladies and some of the men in his red lace dress, pearls, babushka and HOT red lipstick. But I'm wondering if Hansi didn't enjoy wearing that dress just a little too much ;-) |
| | The World Cup My husband David is always looking for a way to top his previous year's costume, 2004 he was jailbird Martha Stewart complete with a cake with a hacksaw hidden in it, 2005 he was a hilarious Michael Jackson and 2006 was his "biggest" effort yet to tie in with 2006s World's Cup, the world's largest jock strap. Don't believe David when he tells you he just pulled it out of his underwear drawer ;-) |
| | Babushkas in training |
| | Look at the guitar, it's made out of a toilet seat. And you have to love the Dino slippers :-) |
| Pierogis in Whiting are high tech! |
| | Mr. Pierogi When was the last time you saw a pierogi talking on a cell phone and you weren't under the influence? ;-) |
| | Mrs. Doubtfire The larger children were a little skeptical of a bearded babushka but the smaller children weren't afraid of Hansi in his Mrs. Doubtfire outfit, here he is taking one for a twirl |
| | Pierogi toss One of the final events of the Fest is the pierogi toss, soaked in butter, the messier the better! No fair wiping your hands or the pierogi on your clothes! The was no victory for my family, my brother in law dropped his pierogi and my nephew was disqualified for stepping out of line. |
| | Pierogi eating contest And the final event of the day was the pierogi eating contest, pierogis are only allowed to travel in one direction or the contestant is disqualified. There was a tie and the winners scarfed down 17 pierogis in 3 minutes but one contestant probably could have eaten more had they not been so slow to replenish his stack.
Ugh, just the thought of eating 17 pierogis..... |

LoriPori Sun Jul 26, 2009 20:31 UTC Well, I have to admit - David does look like a tree wearing a tie around his trunk. hehe! Looks like all had a good time. | angiebabe Mon Sep 1, 2008 20:00 UTC Hiya - was intrigued to see yr receommendations to yr Whiting page - after trying Pierogi in Poland and from my Polish flatmate I wouldnt mind going to the Pierogi festival either! | SWFC_Fan Mon Sep 1, 2008 19:47 UTC Haha..the Pierogi Fests do look very entertaining! :-) 17 pierogis in 3 minutes??! :-o It took me the best part of half an hour to eat 10 of them...and I was struggling by that point! So, what is the ultimate pierogi filling in your expert opinion? :-) | keida84 Tue Mar 25, 2008 17:07 UTC Brilliant simply brilliant! I love all the "peeps" on the page. David is multi-talented, these are so funny I had to actually laugh out loud! |
