Our Construction of Kitchen and Master Bath

by Homanded - last update: Aug 23, 2007

Our shower - eventually

Our glass window goes floor to ceiling
This is the concept of the open shower layout that I had in mind and, one that inspired me.
On the other side of the glass, for privacy, will be a wall with a circulating waterfall and, natural stone with built in planters for orchids and bromeliads to give that natural rainforest feel.

Original screened in patio, 45 x 14 foot area

Will now become the new gourmet kitchen (area facing patio which is screened in will be all glass windows and french doors for uninterrupted views of the garden and the water on back of property). Wrap around cabinetry, a 48" proffessional stainless steel cook top, island, pantry, wet bar, double oven with convection cooking.
Bill writing center/computer station (for recipes) and a wine rack.

Master bath is being designed with an oversized shower for 2, all glass overlooking a private area of the garden for that "outdoor" shower feeling,
jetted spa tub, separate water closet and double sinks.
Sink and faucet finally in on island!

Same area as above

The cabinetry has now gone in. The flooring is travertine marble. A natural stone product.
The back wall (between the 2 windows) is where the cook top is housed.
This entire area will become the backsplash behind the cooktop, done in one solid piece of tempered glass which will match part of the tempered glass/mosaic of the rest of the backspash.
Note no upper cabinetry other than the one to the right of the cooking area.

Solid Maple butcher block island pulls it together and adds warmths to otherwise minimalist kitchen
Prepping food

I can finally cook!

I'm finally able to use my kitchen! A day that I've been waiting for over 5 months for.
Note the happy smile on my face?!?
Wood like tiles on walls and river rock shower

Bathroom - Shower enclosure

The large, roomy shower features a floor to ceiling window for that "outside/inside" feeling.
It has 3 shower jets, a hand held massager, an overhead 10" shower head, pre-set temperature gauge and a niche.
All will be enclosed in floor to ceiling seamless glass which will allow us to use the shower as a steam room
Side of tub becomes shower bench

Shower and Jetted tub

Framing the tub, with it's own separate window, is a jetted tub. Note that the side of the tub area becomes the bench for the shower/steam room.
Additionally, you can see the privacy wall beyond the shower which will become a "weeping wall", re-circulating waterfall with lush plantings such as papyrus and bamboo grasses.

.
Bath, as is seen from master bedroom

Almost there...

All we're missing at this point is the glass enclosure for the shower and the actual fixtures to go in..but you can get a good idea of what it will end up being by next week!
Missing the wall treatment above the tub

Shwer and tub area
