Just six miles north of Towson, MD you will find Loch Raven Reservoir. Built in 1881, the reservoir is one of the most beautiful natural areas in the Baltimore region. The reservoir holds over twenty three million gallons of water, backed up from the Great Gunpowder Falls river.

Pets are welcome in park at Loch Raven Reservoir. Here I am with my friend Mark (VT member Hikerpark)'s dog Mercedes. The many trails and paths offer you great places to walk with your pet and enjoy the surroundings.

Here is the actual lake at Loch Raven. There is a fishing center here where you can rent a boat or launch your own boat. No gasoline powered engines are allowed, so you will need oars, paddles, or electric motors. The perfect way to spend a lazy summer afternoon just outside of the city.
