This orange landmark at river km 780 (measured from Basel, Switzerland) indicates to ships the entrance to the biggest inland harbor in Europe.

It is officially considered as a "seaport" because sea-going river vessels go to ports in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Countless docks are mostly located at the mouth of River Ruhr.

Each year about 40 million tons of various goods are handled with more than 20,000 ships calling at the port. The public harbor facilities stretch across an area of 7.4 kmē. There are 21 docks covering an area of 1.8 kmē and 40 km of wharf. The area of the Logport Logistic Center Duisburg stretches across an area of 2.65 kmē. A number of companies run their own private docks and 70 million tons of goods yearly are handled in this harbor in the average

Rhine River - the river in Germany. Many songs have been written about the river that connects Switzerland, France, Germany and Netherlands.

Particularly in Spring, when mornings are still rather cold, the shorelines appear in fog.

early in the morning the skies appear in beautiful colors. The sunrise promises a beautiful day to come.

The Federal Police cntrols the river with heavily powered speed boats. Not only traffic is their concern but also the environment. The river rhine pratically "dead" some years ago is now a clean river again with lots of fish.

Nearby Airport of Dusseldorf (DUS) creates sometimes chess boards on the sky. Particularly in the mornings at around 7 - 8 am traffic is very heavy connecting to Scandinavian countries, Uk and Netherlands

During the World Championship my balcony shows also some patriotism. Along with the colors of the sky small flags support the German Team

After a wonderful day I relax on my balcony while I have dinner. Watching the ships and the traffic lets me never get bored
