Wildflowers of Sweden

by sim1 - last update: Aug 1, 2008

After the idea of Ingrid I've joined in (together with a few more VT'ers) in her enthousiasm to post photos and a bit of info on my pages about wildflowers and herbs that are native to a country, and in my case I will focus on Sweden. More exactly described by Ingrid:

"Not only wildflowers and herbs.... but also mushrooms, and wild berries, and... and.... and... anything that is native to a country, and grows wild :-)"

So here we go! And the first one is a very appropriate one as it is called the Linnea:

http://linnaeus.nrm.se/flora/di/caprifolia/linna/linnbor.html

In North America, twinflower was used by the indigenous native peoples for brewing a medicinal tea.

Carl von Linné is a famous biologist, and is often called is often called the "Father of Taxonomy". His system for naming, ranking, and classifying organisms is still in wide use today.
