England 2006

by nebulaflash - last update: May 12, 2006

Avril's tulips

Tulips
This is Studland near Swanage in Dorset. My sister Avril and her partner John have done a lovely job on their garden and their home
Studland Post Office

Studland Post Office

This is a really pretty village with lovely peaceful walks. Old buildings well cared for and cherished, near the coast - my kind of village.

Lullworth Cove

See the vertical striations on these rocks. What happened here? An earthquake perhaps.
Lullworth Cove
Lullworth Valley

Village in the Valley

This scene, viewed with my back to the ocean, at Lullworth Cove, inspires painters I'm sure. So idyllic. The quintessential English town. There must be a Miss Marple living here.

The Old Yew Tree

Apparently Yew's are chosen to watch over the graveyard. This is by St. Nicholas Church in Studland - built around the 12th century. For more information on the Yew Tree and its significance in the graveyard go to: http://www.shee-eire.com/Herbs,Trees&Fungi/Trees/Yew/yew1.htm.
The Yew Tree
The Queen's Head

The Queen's Head

This pretty pub is in Little Marlow, Bucks. I didn't find out when it was built but certainly in the days before skyscrapers and motor cars.

The King's Head

This is also in Little Marlow - just a few yards away from the Queen's Head. You can stop for a drink with the Queen, then move on to the King in one afternoon very easily
The King's Head
The Cow

Through the country lane to Little Marlow

The cows watch over you as you walk down this little pathway. They seem quite content in a large field with green grass to munch on all day. There were calves here too.

The tabby cat is anyone's Janet. Speak nicely to her, offer her a titibit and she's yours. No difference at all obviously. Just looking for ways to smuggle them in under travel videos :))

Hi Janet, thanks for the good wishes. Northern Sotland is certainly worth visiting, I hope you get there one day!

Lovely "rhodo" photo. Are you a gardener, I am. Visited your area in 2006. Loved Minter Gardens and Butchart Gardens.

I am so sorry that I have not written Janet, thank you for the birthday wishes. I must write to you soon shouldn't I? My birthday was very quiet as I spent much of it up in hospital with my Dad. Keep in touch! :-)
