At Carnaval everyone gets dressed up and goes out onto the streets of the old centre to drink. The whole of the centre gets converted into one open air bar for about four days.
This is me dressed as a old lady! Your costumes (like mine) can be very simple, or.....
... your costumes can be extravagant like these kinky devils.
As you can see after a while the costumes start to disintergrate!
The festivities go on through the week. Although it's mainly just the Saturday everyone dresses up you can on any day of the week if you fancy it. You can even do it in the middle of the street Like Omar and Lucie here!
This is an unofficial chirigota (unofficial because they don't take part in the competition in the theatre) who move around the streets of Cadiz on Sunday and Monday singing satirical songs about the local area and it's problems.
They usually get dressed up as the main theme of their songs. These guys costumes are imitating the local politician for Cadiz.
As you can see the streets get quite messy with the confetti and empty bottles and glasses.
On Tuesday night they burn the god of Carnaval. It's all a bit pagan with eerie music playing.

I am interested in your comment regarding abandoned dogs in Cadiz & Grenada. Why is this so bad in these places?

Definitely influenced by my wife. I see China's also green, so if you come when we live there, I promise we'll buy you Chinese hot pot! Can save a bit on the travel costs again! :-) - When we're ever in Cadiz, will try the Aves Gades Taverna Restaurante.
