SONS in short stands for the title above owned by Ministry of Sociall and Development. They have few categories, Choir, Orchestra, Jazz, and besides that they also have their cultural dancers and musicians ( combo )
Started in the year 1988 , the Choir had a change for a few conductors. I was a pioneer in the group and sing in Alto category.

The Red Indian Play

It is an American play about a Red Indian wedding.
Was a good play and with an hour play, very musical and to memorized the whole of the play wasn't an easy thing, but we managed to do it within six months, and was over 60 pages.

Taken at Monash University

We had a trip to Melbourne and stayed at Monash both Choir and Jazz group. We had workshops and tour and had a great time.There were 76 of us both from orchestra and Choir side
The Italian cooked meal for us and the meal was real good.
We went around August ,winter time -5 degrees C so we had a good time and had a week workshop plus concert. Some members extended their stay to visit Sydney and the Gold Coast.

PESSOC & SONS

Penang's State Choir ( PESSOC ) came to join our Choir for concert and we had some traditiononal songs as well as the famous Carmina Burana in German. The group came for a few days and the first time to Kuching.
I was their tour guide and they had been to Kuching City Tour, Sarawak Cultural Village as well as doing some shopping for local goods.
We had two nights of concerts and had a few functions held by the Ministry of Social Development. Was a good performance held at Radio Television Malaysia ( Sarawak )

Our Sweet Conductor

She is a conductor with patience and kind of sweet. Very talented have a very good voice for singing and a very talented pianist. She really care for our SONS group and had arranged group exam and solo exam for us. Our group had excellent result for the group exam and obtained a Silver and Gold Cert. Unfortunately there is no diamond cert.
Most of us who took exam for soloist had also passed our exam.

This Trial By Jury concert was held last May and was held for two nights at the Radio Television Kuching. It was packed of mainly teachers, musicians and music lovers. Was an English play written by Arthur Sullivan and was a great play about a couple getting divorce and the judge at the court.

Live on stage at JB

Our performance at JB was last June where we had sing some broadway songs like the medley of Sound of Music, and the famous Italian "Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves" and other well known songs like Georgy Girl, Wings, Music of the night, and some Bahasa songs etc..
Combined together with the JB Chambers Choir, they were superb too.
Was a great experience and the concert was held at one of the Chinese school in JB ( Johor Bahru )

Miri Stage

This picture was taken at the Miri Concert and unfortunately that was the only picture we had that night. And these were the Altos who did perform in Miri. Of course in a choir we have all the four parts SATB
Well..good for Altos , at least we have a photo of our own group
